My client is a global provider of an award winning, integrated, Operational Support System (OSS) that is helping to build and manage some of the world's most advanced telecommunications networks

As SME, you will be the rare individual that bridges networking and software development. You will be able to (a) design sophisticated IP networks; (b) configure routers with a deep understanding of common networking protocols; and (c) extract, specify, design, and document the functionality to enhance the next generation of OSS tools.

You should be equally comfortable discussing IP network design with a client's CIO, advising his engineers in configuring, for example, VOIP QOS, and debating in detail with software developers the optimal mechanism to automate and support the configuration of that VOIP QOS with an OSS/NMS product.

To be successful in this role you must:

• Have a full understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Have extensive operation experience of L2/L3 IP/MPLS Provisioning and QoS
• Have experience of Network Design, Service Provisioning, and Quality of Service functions over IP networks.
• Have hands on experience in configuring, troubleshooting, and managing carrier grade equipment from one of major vendors (Cisco, Juniper, etc), including SNMP 
•  Be familiar with a wide variety of telecommunications networks and technologies, access, edge and core networks (both fixed, wireless, and IP)
• Be an OSS and NMS expert
• Have knowledge of the entire network space, with experience in one or more of the following areas: Voice Over IP, IP Video, IP Data, Broadband
• Have experience in software analysis and architecture.

Qualifications needed:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications
• Ability to travel extensively to, and work in, foreign countries as the work may require
• Minimum 5 years experience as an Engineer in the Telecommunications industry
• Minimum of 3 years experience in a customer/user facing role

Candidates with experience in Oracle and UNIX (Solaris) will be looked on favourably as would those with voice and data network implementation experience.
