Adelaide-based Internode has joined the ranks of the very large ISPs (VLIs), having signed its 100,000 broadband customer.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics defines VLIs as having at least 100,000 paid subscribers, and as of last September there were only 10 ISPs in this category.

In addition to its broadband customers, Internode has close to 20,000 dialup subscribers.

"Our growth projections have us doubling our customer count before the end of next year," said managing director Simon Hackett.

Internode's turnover now exceeds $A100 million, and it is the first South Australian Internet services company to reach this milestone.

Internode is the most commonly used ISP among the users of Whirlpool, the influential Australian broadband site, and prominent clients include National Pharmacies, the Royal Flying Doctor Service and the state government of South Australia.{moscomment}
