Users reported various issues after installing the Mac OS X 10.4.10 update, but the most pervasive was a popping noise from the speakers of Intel-based Macs. Mac OS X 10.4.1 Update v1.1 - and the separately available Audio Update 2007-001 - aim to correct that problem.

The v1.1 update should be downloaded and installed only by those who have not already installed Mac OS X 10.4.10 on a Intel Mac. Those who have should download and install the Audio Update instead.

Mac OS X 10.4.1 Update v1.1 is available as as delta update from 10.3.9 or as a combo update for any version of 10.4. All three are available from Apple Downloads.

PowerPC-based Macs are not affected by this issue.

Other 10.4.10 problems reported by users - notably involving USB - remain unaddressed.
