IT and telecommunications service provider Brennan has been contracted to develop an operations automation system for the fire protection industry.

The contract is with an unnamed service provider in the industry, but the finished system will be available to all providers on a licensed or hosted basis.

"This is a very exciting opportunity, not only for our company but also for the fire protection industry," said Dave Stevens, managing director of Brennan.

"The solution will be a first for the industry, delivering enhanced functionality that will enable fire protection companies to better manage their client base, improve service levels, streamline back office administrative functions and smooth out cash flow. We have worked very closely with the industry to ensure we build a solution that meets their exacting needs. Our agreement ensures that this solution will follow an industry-led development roadmap to fit the needs of service providers both now and into the future."

Features will include field force automation via 3G mobile devices, workflow, asset registers and skills profile

The first installation is expected in September.
