Sky News parent Australian News Channel has signed a three year content delivery contract with Hostworks.

"We are the leading provider of news services in 3G mobile and the leading provider of 24-hour news services via subscription television. Our contract with Hostworks places us in a position where we can change course and modify our offerings at short notice," said Australian News Channel CEO Angelos Frangopoulos. "The ability to respond immediately is what being a news leader is all about. Online news is a fast-growing market segment that is undergoing massive change."

"We are committed to increasing our exposure in the online space which is why we chose Hostworks as our specialist provider for online content delivery," he added.

Hostworks' other media-related clients include Network Ten, SBS, News Digital Media, and ninemsn.

The company provides infrastructure that is quickly scalable to meet sudden spikes in demand, as occurred following news of the the verdict in the Schapelle Corby trial, and the deaths of 'Crocodile Hunter' Steve Irwin and motor racing legend Peter Brock.

The Hostworks service will deliver text, image and video content for Sky News, which has already relocated its news content to a Hostworks server.
