Acer has secured a multi-million dollar PC contract with the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Supplying more than 3000 PCs and monitors over two years could bring in as much as $4 million.

The ABS has selected Acer's enterprise level ultra small form factor Veriton 1000. "Being only 3 litres in volume, the Veriton 1000 will revolutionise desktop real estate at the ABS, said Mike Cefai, Acer Computer Australia's general manager for government, education and corporate sales.

In addition to saving space in the bureau's new open-plan premises, the company estimates that the systems can reduce power consumption by as much as 50 percent.

"We are pleased to have Acer as our preferred desktop computer supplier," said Lane Masterton, chief of IT infrastructure at the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
