The eGames and Entertainment Expo 07 has opened with an emphasis on new and up coming games.  More than 50 high anticipation titles are featured at the show.

Here I am right at the opening point of this year’s eGames and Entertainment Expo 07 at the Melbourne Entertainment Centre.  And already the feel is bigger, brighter and fuller than last year.

Emphasis has shifted from hardware to software this year – this is of course natural as this time last year, in Australia at least, there was no Nintendo Wii, no Sony PS3, and no Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive.  This year the focus is on the software to take advantage of next-gen consoles and PC hardware.

There is also a serious side to the show which in conjunction with the Game Developers of Australia Association will give folks interested in the industry as a career, a chance to hook up with a variety of local developers and educational offerings to further that dream.

But it is the new games that will draw the biggest crowds –streaming in now, and sure to break last years total of 15 thousand visitors.  Games that can be seen and tried at the Expo include;

* Crysis
* Assassin’s Creed
* Fury

‘Mass Effect’ will be showcased at eGames prior to its late November release by Microsoft.  ‘Mass Effect’ gives gamers complete control over their gaming experience. Gamers can create their own customisable version of Commander Shepard of the SS Normandy (or jump in and use the pre-created character) and plunge themselves into the centre of an epic science-fiction story. They can choose their squad-mates, weapons, skills and abilities and customise their vehicles, armour and appearance. As Commander Shepard, gamers then lead an elite squad across a galaxy which is in turmoil in a desperate race to stop the return of a ruthless, merciless enemy.

More iTwire direct eGames Expo reports to come, if I can drag myself away from the booths.
