Page 1 of 3 After upgrading to 1.0.2 from the original iPhone firmware and then unlocking the iPhone with the first and very controversial free unlock that became available before the AnySIM unlock was publicly released, life was good. The iPhone worked, unofficial third party apps were all happily installing, and once news of 1.1.1 had emerged, the hackers were quick to work their magic, but given the problems reported by those with unlocked 1.0.2 iPhones who had hastily upgraded to the new firmware, I was definitely in no rush to upgrade, preferring to wait until a simple solution emerged. Thankfully, simple and free instructions are available at a site called iPhone Unlock, based in Norway. Using their instructions, I was able to ‘re-virginise’ my iPhone back to unhacked status in only a few minutes, thus allowing me to safely update to 1.1.1 (even though 1.1.2 is now available). Then, by continuing to follow the super easy to follow instructions, I was able to activate my 1.1.1 iPhone, ‘jailbreak’ it using the .TIFF flaw in Safari and then unlock it with the AnySIM 1.1 software downloaded over the air using the Installer.app. After downloading every app available, every dictionary, even theme, every game and more, which seems to take in excess of 1GB of space on my iPhone once installed, things were running better than ever – with the 1.1.1 improvements of a double-clickable home button, pressing the space bar twice to get a full stop and the other enhancements all most welcome and appreciated.
