India-based outsourcer Wipro has announced plans to set up a services centre in western Sydney.

The centre will provide consulting, software development and testing services to the local market.

No indication was given about the likely opening date for the centre, the number of staff that will be employed, or the proportion that will be Australian citizens or permanent residents.

Rajat Mathur, Wipro's chief executive business solutions and head of its Middle East and Asia Pacific region did say "We are also committed to nurturing local talent, recruiting and training local employees, including graduates."
