"We have had demand from students to incorporate SAP training into our IT courses," said Anthony Scolyer, teaching centre manager, computing and information technology, Holmesglen TAFE. "SAP skills are in demand. The program gives our students skills that they can apply in the workforce and increases their career opportunities." The course will be offered from 2009, and Diploma of IT Software Development students will be able to obtain credit towards the degree program. Between 20 and 40 local and international students are expected to apply for the first intake. "SAP has provided the foundation for this course, because it is a leading business management software vendor, which sets the context for what we want to teach our students," said Scolyer. "We have allowed industry input into the course development and delivery because SAP can advise us on the real industry needs and requirements." Bruce McKinnon, field services director at SAP Australia and New Zealand said "With a large proportion of businesses in Australia using SAP software to run their organisations, the program will make a significant difference to the future of the IT industry in Australia."
