LogMeIn, a company which provides a range of tools to enable Windows PCs to be managed, supported and backed up remotely has made two of its products - LogMeIn Free and LogMeIn Rescue -available for the Macintosh.
LogMeIn Free for Mac is a free downloadable application that enables a Mac to be remotely accessed and controlled over the Internet from any device running a web browser (including an iPhone). LogMeIn Rescue for Mac, available in beta as a free download   is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering that provides IT support technicians with the ability to remotely access control diagnose repair and manage Macs.

The LogMeIn Rescue application runs on the technician's Mac. The owner of the Mac to be repaired simply needs to have a small applet installed. According to LogMeIn, "Support technicians leave behind a desktop icon - branded with your company logo - to remote PCs. When your customers need future support, they simply click the icon, which opens your branded Calling Card Applet. After completing a short form, customised to collect the information you require, they are connected to a specific technician or technician group that you specify."

No prices have yet been announced for the final release version: the PC version costs $US129 per seat per month on a casual basis or $US99 if paid annually. LogMeIn Free for Mac and LogMeIn Rescue for Mac run on v10.4 (Tiger), v10.5 (Leopard) on both Power PC and Intel-based Macs.

According to Marton Anka, CTO, LogMeIn, "More than 30,000 users joined our Mac preview program, enabling them to access their computers from most Internet-enabled devices. We incorporated that access technology into our LogMeIn Rescue service to enable IT support personnel to quickly and easily access, diagnose and repair Macs with the intuitive interface and extensive toolkit present in our other Rescue products.

LogMeIn. (formerly 3am Labs) offers a suite of remote access and support solutions that provide instant, secure connections between remote PCs over the web. Its services all rely on the LogMeIn Gateway, The people at LogMeIn are those who created RemotelyAnywhere, claimed to be the first ever browser-based remote administration solution.

The company is headquartered near  Boston, Massachusetts and  maintains a development centre in Budapest, Hungary.{moscomment}
