An update for Camino, the 'Mac native' Gecko-based browser delivers security fixes, improved compatibility with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, stability improvements and other changes.

Version 1.5.4 uses Gecko 1.8.1.11, which includes critical security fixes.

Leopard-specific issues corrected in 1.5.4 include tooltip display, the provision of a 512x512 pixel version of the application's icon, and appropriate styling of the status bar.

Other improvements involve the performance is the History menu, automatic purging of expired favicons, and better ad blocking.

Version 1.5.4 arrived just over a month after 1.5.3, which was also triggered by a Gecko security update.

Camino is favoured by some Mac users as it delivers the broad compatibility provided by Gecko with the native Mac OS X look and feel that they expect from applications.
