"With gigabytes of e-mail storage readily available to nearly everyone, e-mail has evolved from a simple communication tool into a personal database where we retain vast amounts of valuable information," said Douglas Wilson, distinguished engineer and chief technology officer at Lotus. "We continue to deliver better tools to speed and improve personal mailbox search, and OmniFind Personal Email Search illustrates how IBM’s advanced technology delivers the ability to quickly and easily access the precise information we need, exactly when we need it." IOPES uses the open source Unstructured Information Management Architecture framework originally created by IBM and now under the wing of the Apache Software Foundation. When in use, the software automatically adjusts its demand for resources according to the overall load on the system. Like most desktop search products, IOPES pre-indexes the data for speedy retrieval. IOPES requires Lotus Notes 6.0 or later, or Outlook 2003 or later, along with either Internet Explorer 5.0 or later, or Firefox 1.5 or later. It runs on Windows 2000, XP, Vista or Server 2003. The software may be downloaded from IBM's alphaWorks site.
