There are over three billion mobile phone users. Someday most of them will be able to access the Internet from their cellphones and when they do Yahoo! wants to be their first port of call for whatever information or service they ultimately desire.
It's a hugely ambitious goal. Not only is Yahoo! up against a monster competitor with similar ambitions in the form of Google, it's up against every cellular operator in the world which wants to keep ownership of its customers and provide much more than basic mobile connectivity. Yahoo!'s strategy is "to enable and lead a mobile ecosystem ultimately serving billions of users by providing indispensable & compelling services to consumers, developers, publishers and advertisers." According to Marco Boerries, executive vice president Connected Life at Yahoo! "Yahoo!'s ultimate goal is to bring the best possible Internet experience to the billions of mobile consumers around the glob."

Specific announcements made at CES to help Yahoo! achieve this goal were:
