Security systems provider, Fortinet, has deployed an enterprise network security platform for Altium Limited, an Australian developer and supplier of electronics design software for the Microsoft Windows platform, to protect and manage its headquarters offices in Australia and the US, and regional branch offices in Asia and Europe.

Altium had expanded its network to accommodate new offices and users, and as a result, found performance and reliability limitations in its previous software-based firewall solution, which would lock-up under pressure.

Altiums Sydney-based IT staff replaced its previous software security solution with an end-to-end multi-layered enterprise security platform from Fortinet from Australian distributor WhiteGold, and deployed with help from Dimension Data. AltiumҒs new network security platform includes:

Two FortiGate-300A systems to protect its Sydney, Australia headquarters
Օ        Two FortiGate-300A systems for its US headquarters in San Diego, Calif.
Two FortiGate-300A systems for its offices in the Netherlands
Օ        Two FortiGate-300A systems for its offices in Germany
Two FortiGate-200A systems to protect its office in Tasmania
Օ        Six FortiGate-200A systems two deployed in each of its offices in Tokyo, Japan; Shanghai, China and Switzerland
֕        One FortiAnalyzer security logging, reporting and analysis appliance at its Australia headquarters

According to Altium, since deploying the new enterprise security system, the company has seen a substantial reduction in malware and cut spam by approximately 80%.

Altiums IT Manager, Nathan Stanfield, said: ғWe are delighted with our Fortinet solutions.  Deploying them has made our network security platform more effective and more manageable.  Fortinets ability to push the latest virus signatures into our FortiGate systems automatically, which eliminates the need to check and maintain updates, has improved our security and provided our network administrator more bandwidth for ongoing maintenance of our systems around the globe.Ҕ
