ICT services provider, Data#3 Limited (ASX:DTL), has been contracted by the Queensland Government to provide specialist industry expertise to help manage its multimillion dollar computer software assets. Under the two-year contract, worth more than $8 million, Data#3 will work closely with the Office of Government ICT and agency staff to review the software asset management processes within each agency and then work with them to bring them in line with industry best practice. As part of the improvement plan, Data#3 will keep a whole-of-government software licence register and operate a licensing helpdesk to assist government staff with licensing and audit queries. Minister for Public Works, Housing and Racing, Robert Schwarten, said following a comprehensive tender process carried out by the Office of Government ICT, Data#3 was appointed to assist the Queensland Government manage Microsoft software licences for the core State Government agencies. It goes without saying that the use of computers and the associated software is vital for the Queensland Government to deliver services to the Queensland community,Ӕ Mr Schwarten said. The use of the software requires careful management as itӒs not as simple as just buying the software. Knowing what weve got, how to comply with the law and what to do when software gets outdated is essential Җ and not to mention making certain were getting the best value from our investment too. ғData#3s response to the tender was innovative and offered real value to the Queensland Government. We are committed to working with local firms to ensure that they get a share of the $1 billion spend on ICT services. ғData#3 will assist the Queensland Government to ensure it is compliant with legal licensing requirements.
