The PS3 will herald a new era for Sony, the clear leader of the console games market. It will not only pit the console against Microsoft’s Xbox 360, but it will signal the real beginning of the high definition video wars. Sony is a key developer of the Blu-ray high definition video standard, while Microsoft backs Toshiba’s HD DVD standard. PS3 is being touted as Blu-ray ready, while Microsoft has made it known that users will be able to buy an add-on that will allow its consoles to play HD DVD.{moscomment}
