Web analytics company, Onestat.com, has published its latest browser usage monitoring results, which show that Mozilla Firefox's browsers have a total global usage share of 12.93%. According to the latest staistics, the total usage share of Mozilla Firefox increased 1.14% since May 2006. The total global usage share of Internet Explorer is 83.05%, 2.12% less than at the of May. The OneStat.com statistics also show that there is considerable regional fluctuation in browser usage. The biggest single internet market, the US, is running ahead of the global average in terms of Firefox adoption, with 15.82%, while Microsoft has slipped below 80% at 79.78%. Microsoft will no doubt be nervously watching the figures, considering that the once unassailable dominance of IE has slipped badly in some high internet usage first world countries. In Germany, Firefox is now a serious challenger for market leadership, with 39.02% marketshare compared with 55.99% for IE. In Australia, Firefox has also gain considerable penetration with 24.23%, while IE has slipped to 69.35%. All other browsers, including Apple Safari, which is dependent on its Macintosh user baser, and Norwegian upstart Opera, are minnows in terms of usage market share, recording low single digit usage in all the markets surveyed. "It seems that the global usage share of Mozilla Firefox starts to grow rapidly again after a period of no growth" said Niels Brinkman, co-founder of OneStat.com. Mozilla has released beta 1 of Firefox 2.0, its new generation browser, for public download today. Microsoft has had a beta of its new generation browser IE7, which has similar features to Firefox, available for a couple of months. {moscomment}
