Apple puts Core 2 Duo into iMac, MacBook next? PDF Print E-mail

In a move that has some pundits wondering which line is next to get the chip upgrade, Apple Computer has upgraded its entire iMac desktop range with Intel Core 2 Duo processors.

The dual-core Intel Core 2 Duo processors which were released to the market just last month offer significant performance and power consumption advantages over their Core Duo predecessors.

Aside from the fact that the new iMac, which has added a high performance 2.33GHz model with a massive 24 inch monitor to its range, has now switched to the Core 2 Duo processor, the question is how long should Mac users wait before they see the new generation of Intel chips in its other platforms.

For instance, should intending MacBook and MacBook Pro buyers hold off until Apple makes an announcement about next generation dual-core processors for their notebook computers?

This is a question that Apple will not answer of course. However, intending Macbook purchasers should watch this space very carefully. {moscomment}
