Not bad indeed.  Will sales figures like this, plus endorsement by the porn industry help HD-DVD win the format war?

Over at 360 gamer they are reporting on..  Actually more like, trumpeting the success of the HD-DVD drive add on for the Microsoft Xbox 360 as NPD reports 100,000 in unit sales.

Being a cheaper alternative to Blu-ray both in player and content we begin to wonder if the scale is being tipped towards the Microsoft and Toshiba backed format.

Generously the report goes on to acknowledge the sales of PS3’s with their built in Blu-ray drive, now sitting at 687,300 in the US.

This week a couple of small pornographic movie studios have lent their  *cough* weight behind the format as well.  This may well be due to Sony’s decision to prohibit XXX titles on Blu-ray disk.

Whether this is significant in the ultimate outcome of the format war is debatable,  but either way though it is fun to talk about. {moscomment}
