Interestingly, BitTorrent co-founder Bram Cohen was quoted by the New York Times as saying "We are not happy with the user interface implications [of digital rights management]... We would really like to strip it all away."

It will be interesting to see the extent to which people will pass up unauthorised and DRM-free (and free) copies of movies for pay-to-play copies that lack cross-platform compatibility.

If you can live with the DRM, BitTorrent has announced that TV shows will be offered as free, ad-supported downloads sometime soon.

Another piece of good news is that high-definition content will be available, but Voom Networks the only HD provider at this stage.

Studios working with BitTorrent include 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate, MGM, Paramount and Warner Bros.

Even though BitTorrent has reportedly secured international rights for most of the content it is offering, the service is initially only available in the US.{moscomment}
